Luongo Locked in until 2009-2010

Luongo, set to become an unrestricted free agent next summer, will earn $6 million in 2006-07. His salary increases over the remaining three years, from $6.5 million to $7 million to $7.5 million.

He also has a no-trade clause for the final three years.

Bertuzzi words on FLA

Bertuzzi hopes move will help him escape a controversial past

Bertuzzi has been here for 8 years along with a few other Canucks. That's unbelievable job stability in the hockey industry. No wonder he was choked when heard about the move. I liked this quote though, "I'm looking forward to and hope the fans in Florida embrace me with open arms. I'm a guy who will come in and give everything I have to that organization, and I think the best is yet to come."

I'm not sure he was 'giving everything he had' every game last season, but I wish him all the best. Take Jovo with you...

Auld will be No. 1 Goalie in FLA

Also in that article.. "Keenan and Panthers coach Jacques Martin have said Auld will be their No. 1 goalie." Go Auldy!

Bertuzzi and Keenan

I was wondering if Todd was around when Mike Keenan was head coach and I guess he'd just caught him in 1998. Did Todd and Mike have a good relationship? I looked it up on google and the first thing I see is a post on the canucks forum: "Bertuzzi and Keenan". Ok, I thought, this should give some answers... But when I clicked on the link, the Administrators had deleted it. Interesting. I don't know what that means..

Is it hot enough already?

After this scorcher of a day, I was already looking as to when we'll get some relief. The forecasts are not pretty. 34 for Monday, dropping down to 30 for Wednesday. The 14 day forecast shows an increase of temps for next week.

That's what everyone's talking about: the Luongo trade and the weather...

Rest of Canucks Coaches are GONE

The radio station says that Vigneault told associate coaches Mike Johnston and Jack McIlhargey Friday that they would not be returning to the Canucks...

now.. from TSN just like two seconds ago..
''This decision was a very difficult one for us to make,'' said Dave Nonis, Vancouver Canucks Senior Vice President & General Manager. ''I would like to thank both Jack and Mike for their tremendous work with our club over the years. Both men have helped develop young players on our team and assisted with the growth of our club over the years. We wish Jack, Mike and their families the best of luck in the future.''

Alain Vigneault's assistant coaches will be named in the near future.

Waaaaaa!!! Auldy's going to FLA

From the Canucks website:
NONIS PULLS THE 'TODD' TRIGGER

GM Dave Nonis started the fireworks on Friday by trading Todd Bertuzzi, Bryan Allen and Alex Auld to Florida for Roberto Luongo, Lukas Krajicek and a 6th round draft choice in Saturday's draft.

Sigh. At least they'll be going together?

I believe that Auld is THE next goalie. I'm sorry to see him go. Who the hell is Lukas Krajicek?? Haven't seen him since Mulder and Scully.. lol. Actually, Bryan Allan is developing into a fair defenceman too. Well, it hasn't been a secret that Nonis has always coveted Luongo. I just hope that he delivers cause we lost some damn good players to get him.

Obey Your Master! Master!

Didn't want to dwell much but Edmonton didn't win the Cup. =( Played too much like us. lol.

Here's Metallica's Master of Puppets! This is from the S&M tour looks like. One of those 8-10 minute songs.. like Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, or the Eagle's Hotel California.

Also maybe need a pic of Mattias to remind us why we're here to begin with, eh?

Alain Vigneault is named head coach

So a day later and then they announce it. Alain Vigneault, New Canucks Head Coach. Anyway, he's coming up from the AHL.. seems like that's keeping in stride for the new direction of the Canucks, eh?

Still no news on next coach

So there's still no formal word out as to who Vancouver's next coach will be. I heard that something would be said today but I don't see anything. Maybe there's a press conference scheduled.. *shrug*

A Canucks Tiffany Lamp..

Haven't posted for a bit b/c I was on vacation. Anyhoo, there were a couple of Dicks Sporting Goods stores that I saw from afar. They must be a pretty big chain. Look, they even carry Tiffany lamps.

Nothing Else Matters... Metallica

Music fills a particular void in a person. Music can also just be appreciated. Nothing Else Matters (live video)..

Makes you just want to go out and buy an electric guitar, doesn't it?

Other blog posts on Mattias Ohlund

Some blogs that mention Mattias Ohlund sightings/encounters..

Chris Allen's Blog May 20, 2006

Tanya's Blog May 24, 2006

Jeepers, partying with Dan on Saturday and then catching a trans-atlantic flight on Monday... with dog! Poor doggy..

I guess Mattias Ohlund has left the building... err.. the country. =P

So were all of the Canucks playing injured?

Now I knew we had players playing injured but I didn't know about these two. Makes me wonder as to how many more were gritting their teeth and playing through.. Brendan Morrison had surgery in early May in Colorado for a hip-muscle tear. Apparently he'd been playing despite it since early January. Then there was Carter who, after the season, declined to play in the IIHF. "I've been playing the last month with a slight left shoulder separation," said Carter. "I'm going to rest it up for about a month here so I can get back to training and get ready for a big year next year."
